The Men Behind
the Deployments

Every guard IPM deploys is an ex-military professional with verified service records, weapons handling qualifications, and maritime security certification. Military service is a non-negotiable entry requirement — not a preference.

Backgrounds
Where Our Guards Come From

IPM draws exclusively from India's and Nepal's armed forces and security services. Every guard has operational experience — not just training.

01
Indian Army
Infantry battalions, Artillery, and specialist units. Guards with Army backgrounds bring operational discipline, command structure familiarity, and experience in high-pressure environments including counter-insurgency and anti-terrorist operations.
02
Gorkha Rifles
Nepali Gurkhas — among the most highly regarded soldiers in the world. Selected and trained to exactly the same standards as their Indian counterparts. Available on request and increasingly sought after by vessel operators.
03
Indian Navy
Naval security personnel bring a maritime-specific background that translates directly to vessel operations. Familiarity with shipboard procedures, chain of command at sea, and working alongside civilian crews.
04
Border Security Force
BSF personnel bring extensive experience in sustained operations under difficult conditions, rules of engagement discipline, and working in coordinated teams. A strong secondary source for IPM's guard pool.
Selection
Who Makes the Cut

IPM's recruitment criteria exist to protect our clients. A guard who doesn't meet these standards doesn't get deployed — regardless of availability pressure or scheduling constraints.

The baseline requirements are non-negotiable. Beyond them, IPM looks for operational experience, demonstrable professionalism under pressure, and the ability to integrate with a vessel crew without friction.

What differentiates a good guard from a box-ticker: the ability to de-escalate, the discipline to follow rules of engagement under stress, and the professional bearing that gives ship masters confidence. IPM's vetting process is designed to find these qualities, not just verify paperwork.

Minimum 5 Years Regular Service
Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF, or Nepalese Army. No exceptions. Operational experience required.
Honourable Discharge
Exemplary conduct record. Verified with issuing authority — not taken on the candidate's word.
Medical Fitness
Full physical and psychological examination, drug and alcohol testing, and colour blindness assessment at a DG Shipping approved medical centre.
English Language
Good standard of verbal English. Assessed at telephone interview stage. Essential for vessel crew integration and emergency communication.
Physical Fitness
Fit, healthy, and within acceptable weight range. Guards must be capable of sustained duty in demanding maritime conditions.
Maximum Age 48 (Freshers)
Up to 50 for candidates with existing maritime security experience. Age limits apply at entry — not during active service.

0
Weapon Incidents in 13+ Years of Operations

This is not a marketing claim. It is the operational consequence of having non-negotiable entry criteria, continuous weapons handling testing, rigorous Rules of Use of Force training, and a leadership team that does not compromise on standards when deployment windows are tight. Every transit without incident is the result of discipline built long before the vessel leaves port.
